SAS Kochi to Ho Chi Minh City

 







The Indian Ocean got a little rough sailing around Sri Lanka. We latter learned that a strong Cyclone brought flooding to the island.

Thanksgiving dinner after a day of teaching. 

For my Geography of Hazards class, we monitored events happening in countries we visited. During this leg of the voyage there was significant flooding in Sir Lanka soon after we passed, in Sumatra as we passed nearby in the Strait of Malacca, in Vietnam where we would see the aftermath in a few days, and in our final port of Bangkok.

The large cement buildings with small holes are used for swallow nesting. Those nests made of twigs and saliva are collected and boiled to make the broth for birds' nest soup. I impressed other voyagers with this tidbit of information--something I learned ten years ago when I saw the same buildings and wondered what they were.
