Christmas in July

Sarah, Joel and Will were asked by the students to participate in their shepherd's field nativity program. They were to accompany the shepherds as sheep (although independent minded Will maintained he was a donkey). I joined in to help shepherd the sheep. Our tails were made of my socks.
Crawling on all fours was not that comfortable given the abundance of rocks and thorns. The students got a kick out of the one black sheep.
With Bethlehem in the distance an angelic choir sings 'Glory to God". Notice the security fence slashing diagonally up the slope. It separates Bethlehem from the Jerusalem Jewish settlement of Har Homa.

  1. These pictures are so obviously student-type photos. Brings back lots of memories.

That fence is completely new. How sad.
